He earned his JD from the Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University and is recognized globally for his work defending constitutional rights.
Attorney Nabih H. Ayad, the founder of the Arab American Civil Rights League (ACRL) and a tireless advocate for civil rights, has served in numerous leadership roles, including Michigan Civil Rights Commissioner, Vice President of the Arab-American Political Action Committee (AAPAC), and co-chair of ALPACT (Advocates and Leaders for Police and Community Trust), where he worked closely with law enforcement and civil rights organizations.
He has also been a key figure on the Advisory Council for Arab and Chaldean Affairs in Michigan, served on the National Executive Board of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), and worked for six years with the Wayne County Detroit Airport Authority, which positioned him to become Chairman of the Board. Recently, he was appointed by Governor Gretchen Whitmer to the Detroit Port Authority.
A dedicated attorney, Ayad has earned numerous accolades, including the ADC National Advocate of the Year Award, ACLU’s Bernard Gottfried Award, and NAACP’s Great Expectation Award.
